For our selection of suggested cocktails this time, we have a colourful bouquet of tastes and flavours to offer - all inspired by various species of flora and fauna which we hope you will enjoy!

Cactus Jack

Cactus Jack Don’t worry this cocktail has no prickly edges! We believe the name of the cocktail may have originated from one of its main ingredients – tequila. Tequila (the drink) is named after a small town called Tequila which can be found in a valley to the west of Guadalajara in Mexico and is the original centre of Tequila production. Tequila is made from the agave plant – which although is not a cactus - grows in the same sandy terrain in this region of Mexico. This cocktail itself is a perfect balance of sweet and sour flavours from the fruit juices and dry taste of tequila mixed with the sweetness of De Kuyper Blue Curaçao.

Dusty Rose

Dusty Rose This is a smooth and delicate cocktail. A bluend of De Kuyper Cherry Brandy with De Kuyper Crème de Cacao White and double cream results in a simple yet elegant cocktail for maximum indulgence! All you have to do is shake all the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker with lots of ice and then strain into a chilled cocktail/martini glass.

Snowball

Snowball Disaronno Mimosa – any cocktail with champagne in is always a treat and this one is no exception. Never mind a traditional Buck’s Fizz – why not add a measure of Disaronno Amaretto to the champagne and orange juice mix and you have a stylish variation of an old favourite? The delicious hint of burnt caramel and marzipan flavours from the Disaronno Amaretto give a modern twist to a classic cocktail.

Summer Rain

Summer Rain Elderflower Fizz – a lovely and long cocktail. Warming golden flavours of Three Barrels Brandy and half a shot of elderflower cordial topped up with lemonade combine to make an easy to drink cocktail recipe. Simply build the ingredients in a highball glass – first the Three Barrels Brandy, then the Elderflower Cordial and lastly the lemonade. Garnish with a slice of freshly cut lemon for a zesty finish. Perfect!

Sunny Day

Sunny Day Scarlet Pimpernel – did you realise that the Scarlet Pimpernel is a bright red wild flower whose name in Latin is “amagallis arvensis”? Perhaps more often recognised as the character in Baroness Orczy’s novels set in late 18th century France as the dashing alter ego of Sir Percy Blakeney – this cocktail is equally colourful! Made with De Kuyper Triple Sec with Pimms, cranberry juice and apple juice, this delicious and fruity long cocktail is bright red and adds a splash of colour and flavour to any occasion.

We hope you enjoy experimenting floral cocktail collection and as always, please enjoy responsibly any cocktail recipes recommended by in-the-spirit.
